SCARBOROUGH X Factor contestant Sophia Wardman will be performing tonight for the first time with her new band.
The 23-year-old singer was teamed up with three other hopefuls last week at the Boot Camp stage of the hit ITV talent show.
Sophia is now part of four-piece girl band Belle Amie alongside Rebecca Creighton, Esther Campbell and Geneva Lane.
The girls are this week performing together for the first time on our screens during the Judges’ Houses stage of the competition.
Last weekend X Factor fans saw Sophia perform at boot camp before taking to the stage for the eliminations.
In a tense showdown Sophia and a selection of other contestants were told by the judges they were going home.
However Sophia was called back along side three other girls and five males vocalists.
The sombre singers mood soon changed as they were told there were to form two new groups, and would be going through to the Judges Houses.
Judge Nicole Scherzinger said to the contestants: “We thought of each of you as individuals and we thought you were too talented to let go of. We thought it would be a great idea to have two separate groups.”
X Factor boss and head judge Simon Cowell told the gobsmacked singers: “We’ve decided to put you both through to Judges’ Houses. This is a lifeline. You’ve got to work, 10, 12, 14 hours a day, every single day and take this opportunity. You got a real shot here guys.”
Speaking to the Evening News after the experience Sophia said: “Boot Camp had been really hard. It was long days and a lot of hard work, and really was like a boot camp.
“I was devastated after all that when I found out I hadn’t made it through. I heard the other contestants who had made it screaming with delight and that just set me off.
“I hated the thought of coming back to Scarborough and telling everyone I was out.
“I knew something was going on when they called me back though. I was just over the moon when they told us about Belle Amie. I was so happy as the girls are really lovely and we all get on so well.
“It is great being with them and having someone to share the emotions with. I don’t think I could do it on my own.”
Sophia auditioned for the competition in Manchester where she performed her own rendition of Let It Be, by The Beatles.
After getting three ‘yeses’ she was put through to Boot Camp, where on the final day she was put in a group called Bell Amie.
On tonight’s X Factor the girls will find out which of the judges is to be their mentor. Then on Sunday the judges will reveal which acts are through to the Live Finals.
