Speaking up to help Macmillan

MACMILLAN Cancer Support is seeking an outgoing, confident individual in the East Coast area (Whitby, Scarborough, Bridlington), to act as a speaker who would promote Macmillan cancer services in the community.

Many people know about Macmillan nurses and the fantastic work they perform, but are not aware of all the other types of support that Macmillan offers.

This is why the charity needs speakers to go out into the community and raise Macmillan’s profile so that more people are informed of the wide variety of services that the charity embraces.

As a Macmillan Speaker you will be a key part of our community fundraising activities in the East Coast area, representing the charity to schools, community organisations, corporate partners and groups of varying size, communicating our key messages and ensuring they know they are valued for their support.

The group sizes vary enormously, from a meeting in a golf club to a dinner dance, and full training will be provided.

James Lawrie, an old hand at speaking for Macmillan, said: “The speakers are always well received, and people are sympathetic to the cause and therefore are keen to listen to what you have to say.”
