Stage is set for day one of ‘Le Tour’

The race will start in Bridlington at 11.45am and finish in Scarborough just after 4pm.

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “I’m really excited about stage one. Scarborough is the right place for the finish - without a doubt.

“With the riders coming round the seafront it will be wonderful.

“The weather forecast is good so we’re hoping it will be the perfect finish to a perfect day.

“When they get to the North Yorkshire Moors they’ll realise it’s not flat in Yorkshire! There are some very lumpy hills.

“When they get to Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay it’ll be amazing.”
