IT’S full steam ahead for a Scarborough railway station after it scooped a top award.
Seamer station has been recognised as a safe and secure environment for passengers and staff by the Government’s Secure Station Scheme.
The station, used by more than 91,000 people each year, was also praised by bosses from the Department for Transport for its low crime rate.
First TransPennine Express runs more than 30 services through Seamer.
Billy Vickers, the company’s Police Liaison Officer, said he was delighted it had been recognised with the award.
He said: “This is really good news for Seamer.
“Safety is our number one priority and we have and will continue to work to improve the station environment for the benefit of customers and staff.
“Customers expect to travel and colleagues have the right to work in safe and secure environments.”
