Status Quo will play at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre on July 12 2014 it has been announced.

The band sold out the theatre last year when they played and the council admitted that this was part of the reason they have been brought back.

Cllr David Chance, the council’s Cabinet Member for Tourism and Culture said: “After the enormous reception Status Quo received in July and the high demand for tickets, we knew we had to bring them back for the 2014 season.

“I am delighted that we have been able to secure the booking and so much in advance too.

“We have officers working hard already on the rest of next year’s line up and we hope to be in position to make more exciting announcements before Christmas.”

Tickets for the event, priced again at £35, will go on sale from 9am, Tuesday, December 17 and will be available from The Sands office in Scarborough’s North Bay.

Tickets will also be sold by tourist information centres in Filey, Scarborough and Whitby and the Tourism Bureau.

A £2 booking fee per ticket sold will apply.

Tickets can also be purchased from (01723 821888) (0844 844 0444) and (0114 223 3777) as well as in person from Motorpoint Arena Sheffield, Sheffield City Hall and Crucible Theatre, Sheffield.
