Saturday’s home game agains Ossett Albion will be all about signing the season off in style.
I thought some of the football we played on Tuesday night against Glossop with 10 men was some of the best we have played all season.
It showed yet again the character we have in that squad, reducing a good team like Glossop to just one shot on target.
That is something we have to continue on Saturday in what will be a big game for the club.
Me and Mark Hume won’t let those levels drop because we want to finish the league season with a win.
Going into the game, our goal difference is a lot better that Hyde United’s, all we need is a draw to make sure of second place in the league.
I’ve asked the lads for all three points though because Ossett Albion is where I played.
Ossett have taken some points of teams, they are no mugs.
I know a few of their players like Adam Priestley, Tom Corner and James Knowles well, they have some other good lads in their squad as well.
For me it is all about signing off with that victory.
It will be a carnival atmosphere on Saturday, we want everyone to enjoy themselves.
I know the club have sold a lot of tickets for the game and we want to give the fans a performance that they deserve.
We have worked hard to get to where we are now and the fans have helped us along that way.
I thought it would be a lot closer at the top going into the final game because just a few weeks ago Bamber Bridge and Hyde were pushing us all the way.
Bamber had a small squad though and I think that is why they tailed off like they have.
The last few weeks of the season are strange because you play a huge amount of your fixtures in a small space of time.
Teams cut their budgets and you get some strange results, it is a mixed bag.
You will always get teams that charge into the play-offs and teams that edge clear at the top of the table.
Fortunately for us, we have done exactly that and on Saturday it will be about celebrating that fact.
