Store to choose its charity

A SCARBOROUGH supermarket is expected to this month announce which charity will get fund-raising help over the next year.

The poll has now closed and a spokeswoman said more than 300 people had Customers at Sainsbury’s voted for wide range of charities from around the area.

The scheme is now in its third year that the scheme has operated and last month Sainsbury’s staff presented a cheque for £3,610.17 to Basics Plus Betton Farm – the money was used to buy two items of equipment for the playground.

A shortlist of nominations has been drawn up and representatives from the top three charities into store to talk about how Sainsbury’s can support them. Last year the scheme helped more than 800 charities across the UK.
