SHOUTS of “Oh-ye, oh-ye” from the town crier alongside Tony Peers and performers from his Summer Spectacular Show got proceedings underway at The Mayoress’ Community Fund Summer Fair.
Visitors were given the chance to see inside the Town Hall where a tombola, raffle and games were set up as well as tea, arts and crafts stalls plus a new handbag stall which raised £98 alone.
The extravaganza raised money for charities, groups and organisations within the borough which will be presented by mayoress Jackie Blackburn at the end of the mayoral year.
Secretary of the Mayoress’ Community Fund, Bonnie Purchon MBE, said: “It went marvellously and we raised £565. It was a lovely day, the cake stall sold out, we had a tombola, games and stalls.
“Thank you to everyone that donated gifts, we really appreciate it. All in all the sun was shining and it was a lovely atmosphere.”
