A SCARBOROUGH women’s group has raised £100 for Yorkshire’s own national heart charity.
Heart Research UK would like to thank the long-established Scalby Wives Group for raising the much-needed cash.
The money was raised by the 48 ladies from demonstrations, musical evenings and quizzes.
The group was started in 1966 and has given lots of donations to many different charities over the years.
President Doreen Brooke said: “This is a cause particularly close to us as a few of our members partners have suffered with heart problems over the years.
“We therefore have the pleasure of giving Heart Research UK £100 and trust it will be very useful to the charity.”
Barbara Harpham, National Director of Heart Research UK says: “This donation came out of the blue and we are very grateful to the Scalby Wives Group for choosing a Yorkshire-based national heart charity.
“Without valuable fundraisers like them we could not continue our pioneering research.”
