GET switched on for St Catherine’s Hospice annual Light up a Life appeal.
This event which is designed to help people remember someone close to them at Christmas while at the same time raising much-needed funds for the hospice.
People can sponsor a light to remember anyone – someone who has died, or friends or relatives who are alive but maybe can’t be with them at Christmas for whatever reason.
Christmas trees will go up in Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, Bridlington, Malton, Driffield and Helmsley. Donors can attend the tree lighting ceremonies in early December when hundreds of lights will be turned on.
Fundraiser Jane Richardson, said: “Our Light up a Life appeal is a touching way to remember loved ones and at the same time help the hospice to help others.
“It is one of our most popular and successful fundraisers and really seems to strike a chord with residents in the communities we serve.
“For many people, sponsoring a light to remember a loved one has become a part of Christmas, which is wonderful.”
