Talk held by former TV host turned politician

A FORMER TV presenter turned MP will give a talk which is open to the public at the University of Hull, Scarborough Campus later this month.

Austin Mitchell, Labour MP for Great Grimsby, pictured, will hold the talk, titled ‘A talk on the ethics of government cuts and the long term impact on the economy’ in Quad 4 on Thursday March 31.

While the talk is aimed at business school students, it is open to anyone who is interested.

Mr Mitchell is known throughout the region as a former TV Presenter for Calendar News. His famous interview between former Leeds United managers Brian Clough and Don Revie was immortalised in the movie The Damned United, part of which was filmed in Scarborough.

He was first elected MP for Great Grimsby in 1977 in a by-election following the death of the then foreign secretary and leading political thinker and author Anthony Crosland. He was also one of the leading members of parliament that pushed for it to be more transparent to the public.
