The public need information about the Gold Cup races

My husband and I live in South Cumbria and have for many years visited Scarborough for the Gold Cup Races (due September 22-23) and have visited the town often too.

We have tickets and hotel accommodation booked for ourselves and my stepson, who works in Kazakhstan and has to make work and travel arrangements, but we don’t know if the meeting will go ahead.

I have tried to contact Auto 66 with no reply. I’ve also contacted Scarborough Council and the Tourist Information Office, neither of whom are able to help. Our hotel isn’t any the wiser either.

It will surely be a blow to the hotels and town in general if the meeting doesn’t go ahead with hundreds of visitors not coming.

Also, if another company does run the Gold Cup, will our tickets be honoured or will we be looking at another three-figure outlay? The sum involved is a lot to us.

And are riders willing to take part at what is now quite short notice?

I know this is a complicated situation but as it is only two months away people need information as soon as possible or the reputation of the town is going to suffer, which we would be very sorry to see.
