The brights lights, thrills and spills of Scarborough Fair will be back in town at William Street coach park from Wednesday.
Organisers have promised that developments to the coach park will not stop them bringing together a huge line-up of rides and attractions for the famous fair.
There were fears that the building of a new £6.5 million youth centre on the site would see the event moved this year.
However organisers were keen to ensure the fair stayed at the location which has been its home for over half a century.
And with some modifications to the usual layout, the fair will open as planned on Wednesday at 5pm.
The huge four-day spectacular will run right through until Saturday September 29.
Opening times are Wednesday and Friday from 5pm until 10.30pm, Thursday from 3pm until 10.30pm, and Saturday from noon until 10.00pm.
Following the success of the cut-price afternoon over the last two years, all rides will be half price on Thursday from 3pm to 6pm, while on Wednesday night and Saturday afternoon special discount vouchers available only from the Scarborough News can be used on all the rides.
These vouchers can be found on page 99 of this edition.
Attractions include Vertigo, one of the tallest rides in the country which swings riders in suspended seats at speeds of over 50 miles per hour, and the Devil Rock, a giant swinging pendulum, which holds sixteen passengers.
