Tom Laughton celebrated

A SERIES of events have been arranged to mark the centenary of the birth of celebrated Scarborough hotelier and art collector Tom Laughton.

There will be a new Tom Laughton Art exhibition next month.

It will provide the focal point of the centenary celebrations and be the official launch event for a new book.

Ken Hayton, chairman of the Friends of Scarborough Art Gallery, said: "The celebrations culminate in the art exhibition next month when we will display 67 of Tom Laughton's paintings, worth around a million pounds, at Scarborough Art Gallery."

The new book will be launched on the first day of the exhibition on March 8 and its completion and availability for sale owes a lot to the generosity of the Pindar printing firm, which printed the book free of charge.
