SOME of the country’s top comedians are to perform in Scarborough over the next six months.

Sarah Millican, Count Arthur Strong, Mitch Benn, Jon Richardson, Shappi Korsandi, Jo Caulfield, Pappys, and Clever Peter have been booked by the Other Side Comedy Club.

Count Arthur Strong, Jon Richardson and Shappi Korsandi comprise the comedy strand at Coastival, at the Spa in mid-February.

Promoter Jon Reed, who says he has wanted to bring Count Arthur to Scarborough for a decade, adds: “I don’t know anyone in the industry who doesn’t classify Steve Delaney’s creation of his deluded, Tourettes-afflicted music-hall star from Doncaster as true genius, and his hit Radio 4 show, now four seasons old, is utter joy”.

Sarah Millican, who has been seen on the Royal Variety Performance, Live at the Apollo and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, is at the Spa on 16 March.

The others can be seen at the club’s home, the Royal Hotel.

“Last season we had some brilliant and probably lucky bookings if I’m honest,”says promoter Jon Reed.

“It’ll be difficult to top, but we always book to a high standard, and a joyful Saturday night for little more than the price of a couple of drinks is worth anyone’s time, as our loyal regulars will vouch.”

Mitch Benn, one of the country’s top musical comedians, returns on 26 February. Pappy’s return with a new show All Business on 7 May and critically acclaimed Clever Peter make their debut on 26 March.

Jo Caulfield, who has been on Mock the Week, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Have I Got News For You, returns to the club on 4 June. Jon is planning to lure another two acts who will be previewing their Edinburgh Festival shows on 2 and 30 July.
