Town being deprived of a key link road

RE: Proposed new Tesco store

I note that Kirklees Council have thrown out a plan for a new Tesco store at Holmfirth on the grounds that surrounding roads would not cope with the increase in traffic. Could not the same be said of the proposed Dean Road development? The council are depriving the town of a much used link road, Trafalgar Street West, and are inviting more heavy goods vehicles and goodness knows how many private vehicles into the centre of town whilst at the same time trying to discourage car owners from the town with the park and ride system.

There has been much opposition to the Tesco move, would that it might be kicked into the long grass as the move to Prospect House has. Power to the people!
