The works began on September 16 2019 as part of a £4m package of junction improvements in Scarborough.

The upgrades are essential to support the proposed growth of the town over the period of the Local Plan up to 2032.

The approach to the roundabout has been widened on Stepney Road and Stepney Drive to allow traffic to filter into two lanes.

Traffic lights have also been installed on Stepney Road before Box Hill to allow students at Scarborough Sixth Form College to cross the busy road more easily.

The roundabout improvements involved several overnight road closures and caused Stepney Drive to be closed for weeks.

The works were completed and the roundabout reopened on Wednesday December 2019.
