A MOTORIST had to be taken to hospital for treatment and a major route into Scarborough was blocked for three hours after a collision yesterday morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene of a road traffic collision on the A64 at Barton crossroads.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said one lane of the eastbound carriageway was closed following the incident which involved a Seat Ibiza and a Toyota Hilux 4x4.
He added: “The driver of the Seat suffered a rib injury in the incident and has been taken to York District Hospital for treatment. The driver of the 4x4 was uninjured in the collision.”
A Yorkshire Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed that one patient was taken to hospital. She added: “Another patient was checked at the scene but didn’t go to hospital for further treatment.”
The crash was just after 10am and the lane was re-opened at 12.05pm.
