A second man has been arrested following a horror smash which killed a motocyclist and sparked a manhunt in nearby woodland.
The 32-year-old man, from Scarborough, was arrested at his home address at 1.50am today (Sunday, July 28) in connection with the investigation.
Both he and a 37-year-old man from Cleveland, who was also arrested, remain in police custody for questioning.
The crash, which happened at about 5.45pm on Saturday (July 27, 2013) on the A171 Scarborough to Whitby Road, near the Flask Inn, involved a black Citroen car and a motorbike.
The man riding the bike, from Scarborough and aged in his late 30s, suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Officers are supporting his family at this distressing time.
A team of officers and search dogs were called in to hunt for the occupants of the Citroen car who departed on foot into the nearby Harwood Dale Forest following the collision.
The 37-year-old man from Cleveland was tracked down and arrested at 9.30pm.
The scene of the crash remained closed until midnight while officers continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident and to allow for the vehicles to be recovered.
Traffic was diverted through Harwood Dale were during this time.
