Police are appealing for witnesses after a pensioner died and two Scarborough people were injured in a car smash.
A Whitby man, aged 65, was pronounced dead at the scene when his silver Vauxhall Vectra estate collided with a white Mercedes E220 on the A171 outside Calais House Farm in Tranmire, at around 9.20pm on Sunday 8 September.
At the time of the collision, the Mercedes was travelling towards Guisborough and the Vectra was going in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Mercedes, a 27-year-old man, and his 22-year-old female passenger, both from Scarborough, were rushed to James Cook Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle prior to the incident to contact them with information.
Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact Traffic Sergeant Hamish Halloway on 101.
