Motorcyclist dies near forest road

A 31-YEAR-OLD biker died after he was in a collision with a car near Dalby Forest.

The motorcyclist, who has not been named, was riding his black and red Yamaha YZF R6 motorcycle on the southbound carriageway of A169 at 4.10pm on Wednesday when the incident occurred.

The crash was between the Fox and Rabbit pub and Thornton-le-Dale and involved a grey Fiat Stilo car.

Traffic Sergeant John Clayton, of Malton Road Policing Group, said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision itself or saw either vehicle prior to the incident to get in touch.

“The collision occurred just past the junction leading to Dalby Forest Drive and leisure complex and anyone who was in that area at the time of the incident could have information that can help the investigation.”

Officers confirmed that the deceased was a 31-year-old man from Hull who was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained during the incident.

The road was closed was closed in both direction until 9.40pm as officers conducted their investigations into the collision.

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw either of the two vehicles before the fatal crash, to contact them with any information.
