THE next phase of a major £2.5 million road resurfacing work in Scarborough has got under way.
The work will improve Filey Road from Wheatcroft Avenue down to Queen Margaret’s Avenue.
Work will start at Wheatcroft Avenue and is expected to take place on week nights between 7pm and 2am with the route closed during that period.
The road will be open to traffic during the day and work is scheduled to take five weeks with improvements suspended from December 23 for the Christmas and New Year period.
It is due to re-start on January 4.
Contractors are also set to finish improvements to Scalby Road this week after slight delays due to the recent cold snap.
Bosses expect the work to be concluded by the weekend, with road marking being carried shortly afterwards.
The road will again be closed between 7pm and 2am and diversions will be put in place for motorists.
