Tanker collision with van causes tailbacks

MORNING rush hour motorists travelling to and from Scarborough were delayed yesterday after a petrol tanker and a van collided.

The 20-year-old driver of the transit van was injured in the incident near Octon yesterday.

The accident happened at 7.30am at the Octon Roundabout on the B1249 Staxton to Driffield Road and involved a van from the City of York Council and a fuel tanker from Carlton Fuels.

Humberside Police and an ambulance were called to the scene and a police spokeswoman said the road was re-opened a short time later.

The driver of the van was taken to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
