The 23-year-old from Cayton died riding his prized motorcycle in Dunslow Road, Eastfield.

The crash site has become a shrine to a man whom friends say died doing what he loved.

“He loved anything with an engine, whether it be a car or a motorbike,” said close friend Joel Sarup.

“But he also loved his family and friends dearly, and would have done anything to keep a smile on their faces.”

Many of those friends are now planning on imortalising their friend in ink, copying their late mate’s tattoo so that he’s always there with them.

“The tattoo is of a saying, ‘what’s for you won’t pass you by’, and it was a quote his grandad said to him,” said Jamie Griffin, a close friend to Danny for almost a decade,

“It meant a lot to Danny so we all want to get it tattooed as I think it’s a true saying.”

The pair met riding mopeds as teenagers, with Danny a natural rider.

“He was a good rider and a good driver, he loved his car and he loved his bike.”

It was his current bike and passion, a black Honda CB600 Hornet, which collided on Friday night with a white Toyota Yaris.

The Kingspan production line worker was rushed to Scarborough Hospital. Friends say he was then moved to Hull Royal Infirmary where he died the next day.

As news broke, tributes flooded in on social media under a touching Facebook picture of flowers placed on his car.

Floral tributes were laid at the crash site in the following days. Beer bottles and McDonald meals were even placed there as a cheeky tribute to fun-loving Danny.

“I picked him up in my car one day and before I knew it we were best mates,” added Jake Sarup, joking: “He was a great lad and a brother to me but a real pain in the backside at times!

“But he just had a huge personality that you were just drawn to as soon as you met him.”

North Yorkshire Police are still investigating the crash outside the Vantage Toyota Garage at 7.22pm.

It is thought Danny had been heading back to his family home in Cayton from Sherburn when the bike collided with the Yaris.

The car’s driver, a 22-year-old Scarborough woman, escaped uninjured.

When the police’s investigation concludes, his mate Jamie plans to ask the force for his bike back

to rebuild it in his hon-

our.

And as plans start to be made for his funeral, his friends say they are still struggling with the loss.

“This is the biggest shock I’ve ever had,” added Jamie. “It just hasn’t sunk in yet.

“He was in my life for a long period and we spent a lot of our time together – I will never forget him.”

The 23-year-old leaves behind a brother and his parents, along with several cousins and a dog called Bailey.

The Scarborough News contacted the family but they have yet to respond.

His friend Joel added that for his family, and the hundreds of other lives he touched, his loss will be huge.

“Danny was a true friend, and brother to many of us,” he said.

“I would just like to say a thank you to Gaddes, for giving us the privilege of being able to know him.

“Rest in peace brother. I love you.”
