Turnbull’s 96 in vain as Walmsley keeps his cool to seal Flixton win

Matty Turnbull smashed 96 but it wasn’t enough to guide Ebberston to victory at Flixton on the opening night of the Andy Hire Evening League in Division A.

Turnbull’s knock helped Ebberston post 138-4, before Harry Walmsley (60) and Norman Shabir (33) guided Flixton to victory in the last over despite Scott Woodhead’s 3-32.

Champions Heslerton were beaten at Staxton.

Aussie ace Rohan Diamond sparkled with 98 as he teamed up with Dave Morris (54) to help Staxton post 173-2, before the champs could only muster 151-8 in reply, Rich Malthouse hitting 62 while Andy Holtby took 3-42.

Josh Dawson (89no) and Tom Fitzgerald (28no) guided Filey to a comfortable win against Seamer.

Greg Chadwick’s 29 helped Seamer to 116-7, Dave Brannan taking 3-26 before Dawson and Fitzgerald guided Filey home for the loss of one wicket.

Wykeham won a low-scoring game against Cloughton.

Cloughton posted 64-4 before James Bryant hit 25 not out to help Wykeham to 65-3.

Cloughton B hammered Cayton B in Division B.

Ben Rowe (3-4) and Dan Virr (3-11) ran through Cayton before openers Liam Salt (37no) and Sean Exley (35no) guided Cloughton home.

The Cousins family were at it again after their century-making achievements on Saturday.

Ian hit 28 and took 3-3 as Ganton eased past Wykeham B while his son Liam added 27.

Wykeham were 103-9, Lee Yarrow hitting 31, after the Cousins duo and Rob Gretton (25no) eased Ganton to 142-5.

Craig Sanderson’s 47 not out helped Sherburn to a nine-wicket win at home to Cayton.

Brad Milburn (4-16) and Charlie Hopper (3-14) bowled Scalby out for just 71 before Scarborough made it to 72-6 despite Aussie Tynan Economou claiming 3-11.

Babu Matthew was the star man with the ball as his 7-17 helped Scarborough Nomads to victory against Wykeham C in Division C.

Matthew’s seven wickets helped dismiss Wykeham for 76, despite Jamie Briggs’ 33, before Sumantro De (34no) and Midhun Singh (29no) eased Nomads to 79-1.

Scalby B skipper Aiden Thomas took a hat-trick but couldn’t guide his side to victory against Seamer B.

Jon Barton (44no) and Lee Kerr (37) helped Scalby to 112-2 and Thomas’ 3-15 had Seamer on the ropes, but 37 from Darrol Lewis and Connor Myerscough’s 29 sneaked them over the line eight wickets down.

Flixton B cruised to a nine-wicket win against Ebberston B.

Ebberston hit 76-6, which wasn’t enough as Will Hutchinson’s unbeaten 50 helped Flixton to 80-1.

Ravenscar beat Forge Valley B by nine wickets.

Valley made 76-8, Jaymaine White hitting 39, before Joe Bayes (41no) and Richard Cooper (24no) eased Ravenscar to the win.

Tom Varey (59), James Fox (52no) and Tyler Beck (3-22) helped Forge Valley to a 44-run win against Muston.

Valley posted 155-4 and Muston could only make 111.

Snainton sneaked a seven-run win against Staxton B.

Ben Norman (45) and Mike Kipling (39) helped Snainton to 115-3 before Staxton fell just short on 108-3, despite Andy Dove hitting 52 and Dan Blanchard 26 not out.
