Two children taken to hospital after four vehicle crash near Ugthorpe, Whitby

Two children were taken to hospital after a four-vehicle crash blocked a busy road outside Whitby.

Police were called to the accident involving a blue Ford Fiesta, red Hyundai 1200, grey Peugeot 208 and a white Scania HGV on the A171 near Ugthorpe at 4pm yesterday (Mon).

They said minor injuries were reported and two children were taken to James Cook Hospital as a precaution.

The road was shut to allow debris to be removed and was reopened at 5.20pm.

Anyone who witnessed the collision who has information that might help with the police's investigation is asked to call 101, select option one and speak to the force control room, quoting reference 12100138020.
