AN urgent road closure has been made in York Place, Scarborough, after a problem was discovered under the road surface.

Repair work started yesterday after a 6ftx6ft void was found under the road by Yorkshire Water, who were working on a connection.

The work is expected to be completed by July 8. Bus passengers who normally board or alight on York Place will have to use stops on Westborough instead, until the road is reopened.

Service 1 will use the first Westborough stop after York Place.

Services 3 and 3A will use the middle stop in Westborough.

Park and Ride Services 64 and 165 will use the middle stop in Westborough.

Service 4 will use the top stop in Westborough.

A spokesman from East Yorkshire Motor Services said: “We apologise for the late notice of this change. If you have any questions please speak to your bus driver or ring BusCall on 01482 22 22 22

“When possible we hope to have EYMS staff in the area to provide advice to passengers who are unsure where to catch the bus.”
