A fresh lick of paint has helped to brighten up Scarborough’s Market Vaults for shoppers and traders alike.
However its not just a fresh covering of magnolia as visitors to the underground shopping space will discover.
A team of traders have got together to paint a sea side themed mural on the wall, depicting deck chairs overlooking the sea and lighthouse, with boats, seagulls and dogs all adding to the scene.
The mural is the brainchild of a new committee set up by Market Vaults traders to boost business.
Lillian Barr, who runs Bakers and Brew Cafe in the Vaults, and is on the committee said: “The mural was a collective idea to brighten up the area.
“It an area that we often use for activities, like the Easter Eggstravaganza we held, and we wanted to make it more welcoming.
“We have plans for more paintings on the pillars, and just hope they will be something new to bring people down.”
