Scalby School sports teams have had an extremely positive first term with some very promising results. In football – the under 14 girls’ team have started their defence of the County Cup strongly with comfortable wins and have progressed through to the semi-final.
The under-15 boys are through to the quarter final stage after a keenly fought battle against Easingwold winning 5-3. The under-12 boys’ five-a-side team have successfully qualified for the county finals as district champions.
In cross-country the school had 14 students selected for the district squad at the coveted county trial earlier this month.
Scalby’s year 11 sevens rugby team have retained their Scarborough and District Champions title. They won all their games, producing some excellent rugby in very challenging conditions. The year seven side also came top of their table after two rounds of games.
The basketball teams from years 10 and 11 have progressed through to their respective district finals, and in netball – in the knockout cup – Scalby’s under 13 and under 15 sides have made it through to the semi- finals. – by Charlie Hopper
