Villagers evacuated after crashed car ruptures gas pipe

Residents of a North Yorkshire village had to spend a night in the community hall after a car ruptured a gas pipe

The incident happened at 2am this morning in Yedingham, near Malton.

Thirteen people were evacuated to the village hall after an accident on the nearby B1258, when a vehicle crashed and damaged the pipeline, leading to fears of a gas leak.
