There are two ways to vote in this competition and once all the votes are in, a judging panel will visit the top four anonymously and the winner will be announced in the Scarborough News in December.

To vote by post: Fill in the voting form published in The Scarborough News on November 13 and November 20, with the name of your favourite chippy, your name, address, contact number and email. Deadline for postal votes is 12 noon on November 25, 2014. (Only original voting forms will be accepted, no photocopies will be allowed).

Return the voting form to: Chip Shop of the Year, Scarborough News, Newchase Court, Hopper Hill Road, Scarborough Business Park, YO11 3YS or you can drop your voting form in the Scarborough News letterbox at Akshar News, Aberdeen Walk, Scarborough.

To vote by text – you must vote before 12 noon on November 25, 2014 to 65550.

Simply start your text with the words: SNWCHIPPY, then the 3-digit number of the chippy you want to vote for. Follow this with your name and email address. Example – 
SNWCHIPPY001 Jo Bloggs, jobloggs@hothouse.com

Text messages cost £1.50 in addition to your standard network charge and should contain no more that 160 characters.

Terms and conditions: Text lines close at 12 noon on November 25, 2014. You will receive a reply-message to confirm receipt of your text vote. Your text message must follow the exact format started otherwise your vote may not be counted but may still be charged.
