Organiser Jim Sloan said: “They do a fabulous job, so we are hoping to raise a good amount for them.

“By popular request we are continuing with the competitive Walk for trophies and prizes but we have introduced a ‘Family/Fun Walk’ for those who are looking to do something less strenuous with family and friends and just have a pleasant Bank Holiday.”

Both walks will take the same route from Scalby to Cloughton and back to Burniston covering the four pubs Three Jolly Sailors, Red Lion, Blacksmiths Arms and Oakwheel.

However, those opting for the Family Walk will return to Scalby along the disused railway emerging at Lancaster Close rather than walking along the coastal road to Field Lane.

Jim added: “This should prove safer and reduce the route by about a mile.

“Those opting for the shorter route will not compete for any trophies but we hope will enter into the spirit of the fancy dress, for which there will be cash prizes.”

The fun will continue at the Nags Head Scalby with presentation of the prizes and raffle at about 4pm.

The entrance fee is still £10 and application forms are available at the Nags Head in Scalby.
