Water company offers people a ‘helping hand’

YORKSHIRE Water is asking its Scarborough customers to help it to identify the most disadvantaged people within the region, who could be eligible for extra help and support from the company.

The company offers a free service called ‘Helping Hands’ which is designed to help those people who require additional support such as elderly customers, those with a disability, or serious injury, mobility issues or a serious medical condition.

These include helping customers read and understand their bills or sending it in different formats, as well as arranging home visits for regular meter readings.

It also provides free bottled water to vulnerable customers during any periods where there are interruptions to supplies.

People can join the register or nominate a neighbour, friend or relative by calling 0800 1 387878 or online at yorkshirewater.com/helpinghands
