Clearance works will begin next week on the site earmarked for the development of a new leisure village in Scarborough.

On Monday contractors will start clearing overgrown vegetation from the Weaponness site.

This will be followed by a ground radar survey. The works will take approximately four weeks to complete. The clearance operation has been specifically timed to take place before the start of the bird nesting season and an ecologist will be in attendance throughout to address any ecological concerns.

The works will be part funded from the council’s approved leisure village budget and part funded by developer, Wrenbridge Land Limited.
