FLOOD UPDATE: More warnings in place across Scarborough and Ryedale

A flood warning for the River Esk from Briggswath to Ruswarp remains in force. The level of the River Esk at Briggswath has peaked, however further rain is forecast until Thursday, so river levels are expected to rise again and incident response staff are closely monitoring the situation.

Flooding is expected for the River Seven at Normanby and a warning remains in force. The level of the river has peaked and began to fall this morning, however, the river level is forecast to rise again this afternoon and into the evening as a result of heavy rainfall. The river level at Normanby is 3.12m and flooding is likely along Marton Road.

Old Malton should expect some flooding due to the high water level of the River Derwent and a flood warning has been issued.

Three pumps are currently deployed in Old Malton, a further three in Malton and one in Norton to deal with groundwater and surface water caused by the recent wet weather.

This is in addition to the flood alerts and warnings issued yesterday by the Environment Agency.
