Weather warning sees wet start to bank holiday weekend on the Yorkshire Coast

The Met office has said that rain will continue through Friday over parts of Yorkshire and Teesside with some disruption to transport possible.

Spray and flooding on roads will probably making journey times longer and bus and train services may be affected, with journey times taking longer. The flooding of a few homes and businesses is also possible.

The weather is expected to clear later after a wet and windy day for most.

Heavy rain across northern parts, steadily spreading to all areas through the morning with strengthening northeasterly winds. Turning dry with a few brighter spells across North Yorkshire late afternoon but feeling cool, especially near the coast where gales are likely. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Cloud and rain in the south clearing to leave a mostly dry night apart from the odd coastal shower. Strong winds persisting with coastal gales. Feeling cold with marked wind-chill. Minimum temperature 4 °C.

Saturday:

After a chilly, bright and breezy start, cloud will slowly thicken with the odd light shower affecting coastal parts. Most places seeing some sunshine at times. Windy with coastal gales. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Winds easing overnight, then mainly fine through Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with sunny spells by day, but some cold nights.
