Witness appeal as three seriously injured in crash on the A170

Police are appealing for witnesses after a crash left a man and two women with serious injuries this morning.

The two car collision happened on the A170 near Allerston, between Pickering and Scarborough, at 8.50am (Friday, April 19).

It involved a blue Ford Fiesta which was travelling towards Pickering and a white Ford Transit van heading in the opposite direction.

The man driving the Fiesta and two female passengers suffered serious injuries and have been taken to hospital.

The driver of the Ford Transit was arrested in connection with the crash.

He was not injured as a result of the incident.

The road is expected to remain closed until around 4pm.

Traffic Sergeant Pete Wood, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said: “I need to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw either the Fiesta or Transit van prior to the incident and ask them to come forward and contact the police straight away.”
