Woman airlifted to hospital after injuring ankle near Ravenscar

The woman had suffered a suspected fractured ankle on the path leading to the seal colony at Ravenscar shortly before 12.34pm yesterday.

Whitby Coastguard and Scarborough and Burniston Coastguard Rescue Team joined Ravenscar Coastguard Rescue Team, paramedics and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance to help the woman.

A cordon was put in place to keep the public at a safe distance while the woman was put onto a stretcher and carried to the air ambulance for onward transport to hospital.
