A woman was airlifted to Scarborough Hospital after she fell down steps and broke her leg at Cloughton Wyke.
An ambulance raced to the scene just after 2pm this afternoon following reports a female had slipped at the steep beauty spot.
A coastguard rescue team from Burniston was called at around 2.45pm and an RAF Sea King helicopter was dispatched from Leconfield.
Phil Saltonstall, watch officer at Humber Coastguard, said: “She was recovered at the bottom of the steps at Cloughton Wyke and she had broken her lower leg.
“Ambulance personnel were able to get to her but they weren’t able to lift her up to the top of the cliff so we were called to assist.”
Scarborough Coastguard was also called out to prepare a landing site for the rescue helicopter at the hospital, said Mr Saltonstall.
