Mikki Tyson, 54, who was walking with her brother and nephew on Monday, said the three originally intended to walk all the way to Whitby.

However, when she realised it had gone they turned round at Ravenscar to retrace their steps and look for the missing bracelet.

The bracelet contains an impression of her late father’s index finger which Mikki says brings comfort whenever she presses her finger into the indentation.

She was so worried she may lose the charm that she had it welded to the bracelet to avoid it becoming detached. “I never dreamed I would lose the whole bracelet,” she said.

Posting on Facebook, Mikki, from Harrogate, wrote: “I really hope someone can help/share. I walked from Scarborough Castle to Ravenscar yesterday.

“Along the way I lost a silver bracelet with a heart on it. The heart has my father’s fingerprint in it.

“We lost him three years ago. Obviously this has huge sentimental value and I am devastated. If anyone finds it please please contact me.”
