Wright hoping to sign off in style with Boro

The 20-year-old isn't keen to rest on his laurels though, he is greedily eyeing the second automatic promotion place in the division so Boro don't have to concern themselves with best third-placed finishes.

Boro have five games remaining, kicking off with a home clash with Brighouse on Saturday, and Wright doesn't see why they can't take three points from each of them.

"We have spoken about the remaining games and we don't want to be looking at the third-placed situation, we want second," he said.

"I think that is what we deserve as a team over the season, for what we have achieved.

"I have always been greedy as a player. I want to win, I want to be a part of those winning teams and I want trophies. That is something that has been bred into me.

"This season has been amazing for me, I've loved every minute of it. But if we can gain promotion and then get a result in the North Riding Cup final, then that would make it very special.

"It isn't going to be easy though because every team sees Scarborough as a scalp. If you have a bad day at the office then you often get punished because the other teams tend to raise their game.

"As a rule we have defended well this season and we been lucky enough to have Wally (James Walshaw), Coulo (Michael Coulson) and Vallo (Nathan Valentine) to score us the goals to get us through. Hopefully that will continue in the last few games."

Wright has underlined that the fans will continue to make a huge difference in each of the final few games.

He added: "Brighouse will be difficult, but it will be great to be back at home in front of the fans.

"They make a massive difference, especially when the ground is ram-packed and the fans are singing, quite often you can see that it affects the opposition and they don't fancy it.

"If we can score a few goals when the fans are cheering, we tend to go on and get a few more because they give us that extra boost.

"You could see that in the closing stages at Goole. I mean who takes that many fans away from home at this level of football?

"Generally you find that the best clubs have the best fans. That is definitely the case at Scarborough."

The winger's future is up in the air after the season's climax at Scarborough, but Wright is hoping that his stay at the Flamingo Land Stadium will help him progress with parent club Grimsby Town.

"I could have gone to other clubs, but I think that coming to Scarborough has done me a world of good, especially if I can manage to get a promotion on my CV," said Wright.

"When you go out on loan you are told to give a good account of yourself and prove that are ready. I'm hoping that I've done that, but also I've had a great time.

"When the season finishes I'll go back to Grimsby, train for a week and then after the final game against Forest Green, we'll sit down for our individual meetings.

"In that meeting we are told if we are being kept on, or if we are out the door.

"This all comes down to what the manager wants. Hopefully things will go well for me and I'll definitely have Scarborough to thank if they do."
