Scarborough based housing association Yorkshire Coast Homes took home four prestigious titles last night at the 2016 National Centre for Diversity (NCFD) Grand Awards.
Yorkshire Coast Homes were placed firmly on the national stage at last night's ceremony receiving awards for NCFD's Organisation of the Year and Housing Provider of the Year title.
Assistant director of corporate services Debbie Gordon gained the Equality Diversity Inclusion Lead of the Year award while Chief Executive Shaun Tymon was named Chief Executive of the Year.
The NCDF mission is to advance equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) to ensure fairness for all. The annual awards ceremony recognises those organisations and individuals who most effectively demonstrate their commitment to EDI principles.
CE Shaun Tymon said; “As Chief Executive of YCH I feel privileged to lead an organisation, and the great people who work within it, in maintaining values that are very much aligned to my own personal priorities.
"While it’s pleasing to be rewarded for our efforts, we do not live by these values just to win awards, but because we want to reach our objective of building inclusive communities, where everyone can access life improving options and opportunities.
"If, by achieving national recognition for the way that we operate, we can influence and inspire other organisations to adopt ethnicity, diversity and inclusion initiatives then I believe that these awards have served a valuable purpose.
"Yorkshire Coast Homes was the first organisation to achieve the National Centre for Diversity accreditation and we’re working very hard to ensure that we maintain it. I believe that this says a great deal about Yorkshire Coast Homes as a company and about our staff members in particular.”
