Canadian appeal for information

My name is Jason Jackson and I am a Canadian whose ancestors lived near Scarborough, Yorkshire, in the 18th and early 19th centuries. I have been doing some research on my family genealogy, hoping to learn more about my ancestors prior to their departure to North America.

My great-great-grandfather was named Arthur Jackson, born at Scalby Lodge and christened at Scarborough on September 10, 1837. The certificate of his christening lists parents Arthur and Ann Jackson, though I haven’t been able to find any more information about their dates of birth/death, burial or occupations - only that they lived at Scalby Lodge.

If anyone living in the area has any more information on these individuals or any related Jacksons at Scalby, any relevant information on the history of Scalby Lodge, or any suggestions for places of future research, please contact me. My email address is

I recently visited the Scarborough area from where I am currently living in France, and may be able to visit again before I return to Canada at the end of April. Any information would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
