I would like to bring to people’s attention about the closure of British Legions up and down the country – they seem to be closing at an alarming rate.
When you hear this you wonder why? I would have thought that British Legions would be the stalwart of club life in an unstable world with our military still on foreign fields.
Armistice day ,poppy collections, Help for Heroes, The Royal British Legion. Is Scarborough next? I say this from personal experience, having paid my membership last October I am still waiting for my club card, as is my wife and quite a few other members they have gone “missing”.
I wrote to the Legion’s HQ in London, who replied that my membership has lapsed as they have no record of them. Maybe this is why the clubs are closing.
