Concerns over future facilities for the elderly

IN RESPONSE to your article “Number of elderly set to rocket,”

The committee of ‘The Voice’ would like to express their concerns about future facilities and provisions for older people.

l The provision of easily accessible medical care, including dental care, chiropody etc.

l Adequate provision of places in care homes, warden controlled facilities and supporting the feasibility of independent living.

l Advocacy for those who have no relatives to speak for them.

l Alleviation of loneliness for the isolated and housebound.

‘The Voice’ committee hopes and trusts that these points will be taken into consideration when planning future strategies by Scarborough Borough Council and other relevant authorities.
