Cut cash to councillors

I HAVE an idea on how North Yorkshire County Council can save money: Cut councillors’ expenses, allowances and computers.

The Government are not saying what services are to be cut, they are merely handing over less cash to each council and leaving them to decide which services are to be cut or scaled down.

The leader of the County Council has a chauffeur costing around £13,200. The councillors seem to prefer to try and shame the Government by cutting essential services rather than making changes themselves. Why not cut the expenses of the councillors and then reduce or restrict spending elsewhere?

We see very little of the councillors day to day and yet now it seems ironic the councillors who took little notice of the public as shown by the public’s opinion on the Tesco versus Asda debate want us on side for the forestry issue.
