On a recent visit to Scarborough, Filey and Whitby I wished to take home seaside rock for friends and decided on the novelty rock.
At the hotel later I was surprised to see a warning that there may be an adverse affect on the behaviour of children consuming the rock (six of the 10 ingredients were disguised as E numbers), and that the rock had been “Made in China”.
British seaside rock made in China? I am totally disappointed and disgusted with the company which does this and the shopkeepers who stock it. Surely there are countless local people who can make this here in Yorkshire?
Needless to say I bought no more and left even the lettered stick rock where it should also be left if that too is made in China - on the shop shelves!
