Six years ago we were told that the beautiful beech tree in Main Street, Irton was under threat of the axe.
Since then myself and a group of nature-loving friends campaigned to save this tree. Sadly we lost the battle, but along the way we came across some wonderful people, all as committed as we were.
The majority came from within the village of Irton, and others from the borough of Scarborough.
We all now have lots of new friends. My thanks to all of you for your support during this long journey.
Also gratitude to the local retailers, shops and public houses that also helped.
Heartfelt thanks to you all.
