Re the announcement of FlamingoLand being the council’s preferred developer of choice of the Futurist site.
There does not appear to have been any response to Gordon Gibb’s statement in the Scarborough News of October 23: “We have been talking with the council for a number of years to see if there were any areas of major development to help them with”.
How many years? Has this been a contributing factor as to why the council would not commit to helping save the Futurist?
York City Council has sold York Theatre Royal to a conservation trust for £1 so it can benefit from money not available for the council to access, to refurbish and save the building. So why couldn’t SBC have done something similar?
