Give medal to veterans

I have just read that the Welsh Guardsman Simon Weston, who suffered severe burns in the Falklands Conflict, will not receive the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, nor any other forces veteran including myself who served for 22 years.

Yet prison staff and police support officers will get the medal if they have served at least five years.

There has been 30,000 signatures online calling for the special decoration to include all veterans, this has fallen on deaf ears.

Should we not be proud of our men and women who served for Queen and Country, some who never came back. What happened to supporting the troops, let them know we appreciate their efforts to protect our country. So much for the phrase “Help The Heroes”.
